East meets West at the Hsinchu City Government

This morning the secondary department students of HIS had the opportunity to take visiting French students to meet with Director Jang of the Hsinchu City Education Department. Director Jang welcomed the students from both Hsinchu and Calais cities and presented them all with some gifts and souvenirs from Hsinchu City on behalf of the Hsinchu City Mayor Junq-Tzer Lin. The principals of HIS Secondary Dept. and Pierre de Coubertin, Grant Ruskovich and Henri Waroczyc, both expressed pleasure at this wonderful cultural opportunity for the students of Taiwan and France and committed to a continued relationship and partnership as sister schools. Mr. Thierry Coste, Attache’ from the French Institute in Taipei, praised both schools for their commitment to international relations and spreading French and Chinese culture and language. He also expressed how HIS has led the way as the only school in Taiwan who participated in the French DELF and DALF language exams and became the first school in Taiwan to create partnerships with a sister school in France by introducing cultural exchange programs.
